About Centre International de Conférence de Diamniadio
The project was designed in order for Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) to host the 15th Summit. The 15th Francophonie Summit was designed as a summit where the Secretary-General of Francophonie Mr. Abdou Diouf would hand over his position. Organizing this summit in his own country where the former Senegalese President Abdou Diouf would preside was a gesture offered to the senior President by then-President of Senegal Mr. Macky Sall and Francophonie. Showing the whole world that a modern international congress center can be constructed in Diamniadio that is far away from downtown and with no access to well-functioning infrastructural services was a major prestige for the government of Senegal. Constructed in 9 months, the congress center exceedingly met the expectations, and made a hit with all the participants. The Senegalese Minister of Communication announced the government's plan and goal to establish a 25-hectare technology town equipped with a budget of $ 120 million in Diamniadio that came into prominence thanks to the Francophonie Summit.
